How We Began

Bank of Marin was founded in 1990 to serve Marin County and neighboring communities with a more personal, relationship-driven approach to banking—grounded in accessibility, responsiveness, and a deep understanding of the clients and communities we serve. Founding Chairman William P. Murray helped establish the philosophy that continues to guide us today: to do well by doing good.

From the beginning, the goal was to create a bank where clients are known by name, their goals are understood, and their success is genuinely valued. That focus continues to shape how we show up for clients—through thoughtful service, long-term relationships, and a commitment to supporting the communities we call home.
